In recent years, the planet has been deeply altered by human activities. Today, companies must become aware of the urgency of protecting the environment and implement actions to reduce their ecological impact. This is the case of Proteclight, a company which, although it is a small business, is committed to a responsible approach.

From its suppliers Peli™

Proteclight markets lighting products from the Peli™ brand, a renowned manufacturer of portable lighting products and protective cases that is committed to sustainability.
Peli™ has already distinguished itself through excellence in creating products that are durable and reliable for a lifetime. Today, the brand aims to be a leader in sustainability.

Indeed, Peli™ focuses on product design and operations to improve recycling and reuse. In recent years, the company has avoided single-use materials in the products it manufactures. Lamp housings and lighting systems are fully recyclable.

Peli™ incorporates sustainability into its business decisions on a daily basis. In fact, for European distributors, Peli™ brand injection molded housings are manufactured in a contract manufacturing facility in Crottendorf, Germany and stored in the Netherlands, reducing the brand's carbon footprint on shipping from the United States to Europe by 50%, as the brand is American.

The Peli™ storage warehouses meet sustainability requirements: solar panel roofing, rainwater collection, maximum use of daylight, the installation of automatically dimming LED lighting, waste sorting and material recycling.

Proteclight, as a Peli™ lighting system reseller, follows the Guarantee of Excellence policy implemented by the Peli™ brand. This policy consists of a lifetime warranty on the brand's flashlights and headlamps against manufacturing defects but also against breakage. The manufacturing policy of the Peli™ brand consists of creating and producing resistant, durable and reliable products that last a lifetime. This policy thus participates in reducing their impact on the environment.

In its offices

Proteclight has an important stock based in France to allow a fast delivery on all the territory, but also because ordering in bulk from the manufacturer causes less transport and less packaging and consequently, less pollution.

Proteclight also works with responsible transporters:

  • Mondial Relay: For Mondial Relay, respect for the social and societal environment is a major objective. The company works every day to reduce and compensate for their emissions: they only deliver in Points Relais® (and Drives for large parcels) in France, an optimized delivery method that limits CO2 emissions thanks to its ability to deliver several dozen parcels simultaneously to a point, or the use of the same transport for the delivery and collection of parcels, thus avoiding having trucks running empty.

  •  DPD: This French carrier is one of the responsible carriers. To meet the challenges of CSR, DPD implements responsible and sustainable solutions such as: measuring, reducing and offsetting their carbon footprint, improving urban life by offering more efficient and responsible delivery solutions or encouraging innovation in their activities with our entire ecosystem.

  • Schenker: DB Schenker aims to become the benchmark in terms of energy and carbon efficiency. This commitment is based on several objectives set by the group: to reduce CO2e by 50% by 2030 (base year: 2006), to reduce electricity (kWh/m²) by 2.1% per year and water (m3/person) by 1.9% per year (base year: 2013) and to achieve 60% material recycling of their waste products.

  • TNT: TNT integrates a sustainable development approach at the heart of its strategy and in its operational activities. To take action, the carrier is deploying in France, an environmental program that targets concrete actions: improving CO₂ performance and air quality, offering CO₂ services to help their customers improve and raise employee awareness of sustainable development and developing sustainable relationships with its partners.

Regarding emails, they consume energy and are a more intense source of pollution than one might imagine. To reduce its impact on digital pollution, Proteclight cleans its mailbox every day:

  • Spam and emails that do not need to be kept are deleted
  • Mails that need to be kept are sorted and attachments are removed from the storage space of the mailbox

The offices of Proteclight are equipped with garbage can of sorting, and the paperboards, when they are in good state, are recovered and re-used for the sending of the parcels.

Proteclight has no paper archives. The company reduces its printing by storing its documents on computer.

Whether in the storage areas or in the offices, the lighting is optimized by the direct access of the sun through the bay windows and the skylights installed in the company. Energy wastage is also avoided in common areas (toilets, corridors) thanks to the installation of automated lighting management (motion detector). Thus, the building consumes exactly the amount of energy it needs when it needs it. In addition, the lighting in Proteclight's offices is LED lighting, which reduces the company's environmental impact.

Proteclight employees ensure that at the end of the day, computers and computer monitors are turned off, chargers and devices unplugged, heating turned off and lights turned off.

Finally, Proteclight provides its employees with cooking utensils (plates, cutlery, cups, glass), a fridge, a microwave and a dining area to encourage employees to bring their own food rather than buying packaged meals or ordering in their meals.

Proteclight, although a small company, is committed to being responsible.
